How can I stay on track when it comes to doing God’s will?

When David returned home to bless his own family, Michal, the daughter of Saul, came out to meet him. She said in disgust, “How distinguished the king Because the Sovereign Lord helps me, I will not be disgraced. Therefore, I have set my face like a stone, determined to do his will. And I know that I will not be put to shame.

Isaiah 50:7, NLT

This verse spoke to me during a tough time. When my friend asked, “How can I pray for you in this painful situation?” I replied, “That I’d set my face like a stone.” Sometimes, especially when we are doing the hard thing God calls us to, we will feel pushback harder than we can bear. And often, it will come in waves of accusations and shame. But with God’s help, we will not be disgraced. And we can keep doing his will. Stone-faced but God-hearted.

Dear God, I don’t like stone-faced seasons. I much prefer times when I get to smile—a LOT! But you are with me in both. Thank you, Jesus, and please make me strong this day.
