How does my forgiveness set someone free?

Now, however, it is time to forgive and comfort him. Otherwise he may be overcome by discouragement.

2 Corinthians 2:7, NLT

I have always taken it hard when someone is disappointed in me. When I let someone down, I can wallow deep and hard in that failure. That’s why this verse gives me hope.

We can be the difference for someone who needs encouragement to go on. I can’t stand thinking that me being disappointed in them could hinder them being able to move forward in life.

Because I’ve been there, and I don’t want anyone else experiencing that. I’m not just offering my forgiveness and comfort. As Paul says in our verse, I’m opening the gate I didn’t even know I had closed on them. As they walk through they walk encouraged.

Journal about a time you let someone down, but they encouraged you. Consider if you need to open the gate for someone else.

God, thank you for this verse on encouraging others by forgiving and comforting them. Thank you for how this helps me and helps me help others.
