You mean I might need to sit still?

Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes.

Psalm 37:7, NLT

Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes.

Psalm 37:7

There are certain times for toddlers when sitting still is nearly impossible. They squirm, wiggle, turn around, touch things, and talk too loudly. God bless parents and preschool teachers!

We’re not much better. Have you ever found yourself praying earnestly for God’s help and then making a plan without him? Have you ever tried to sit still with God for five minutes without making a grocery list in your head?

All around us are books, courses, and podcasts on getting more of everything done more efficiently. There are fewer teachings dedicated to sitting still and waiting for God to act. Which are you more inclined toward?

ACT

Declare one day as “list free.” Go one day without making a list or racing from one thing to another. Instead, wait for your day to unfold, and watch for God.

pray

God, you tell us in your Word more than once to be still. It must be important. Show me one thing I can do today to wait patiently for you.
