Where does worship lead?

Happy are those who hear the joyful call to worship, for they will walk in the light of your presence, Lord.

Psalm 89:15, NLT

Have you ever attended a church service? What do you hear? Does the band start up? Does someone tell you which hymn to turn to? Or maybe the classic, “Please stand and join me.” Whatever it is, there is a call to look up, a signal to stop thinking about the worries of life and focus on God.

We have a need to worship. We are hardwired for it. When we like something, we want to tell others about it, send them a link, buy them one for Christmas. Our need to worship is best met in praising God.

Those praises, words, notes, and songs are a power source because they bring us into God’s Kingdom of Light. Whether we sing, sway, or stand still, we enter into what we long for—an experience of God.
