What should worship look like?

When David returned home to bless his own family, Michal, the daughter of Saul, came out to meet him. She said in disgust, “How distinguished the king of Israel looked today, shamelessly exposing himself to the servant girls like any vulgar person might do!”

2 Samuel 6:20, NLT

It’s impressive that any two people stay married. Raised with different upbringings, we come with such wildly different expectations. Michal had been raised as the daughter of a king, David as the youngest son of a shepherd. No wonder she had precise ideas about how things should—and shouldn’t—look to be acceptable.

Today or sometime this week, join David in worshiping God through dance. Turn on a faith-filled piece of music and let your body tell its Creator how much you love him.

Dear God, even though I don’t see what I don’t see, I also hold beliefs about what is—and isn’t—a good way to honor you. And I judge people whose beliefs differ. Please show me one person whose way of worshiping I don’t recognize as such, and show me what you may value about their sacrifice of praise.
