Sometimes I wonder if you really answer prayer. So many of my prayers seem to remain unanswered, and I’m discouraged. Yet I cling to your Word, which clearly says that you hear your people. When I pray I know that I want to receive a “yes” answer, but that may not be what you want for me. Please give me the humility to understand that you may sometimes say “no” or “wait—not now”. Any loving parent sometimes gives these answers to a child, so I should also expect them from you, my heavenly Father. May I have faith to trust that you always answer based on what you know is best for me. Guard me from misinterpreting a seeming lack of response as your ignoring me or not caring about me; instead, give me the sensitivity to know when you are pointing me in a new direction. As I seek to understand your answer is best, may I grow in spiritual wisdom.
